I have run many seashore forays over the years and have been running my own for the last seven years. They have been very successful and I am sure you will enjoy your day beside (and, perhaps, in) the sea and learn a great deal about what can be found to eat by the seashore. The cost is £110 for adults and £20 for children 5 - 15.
We meet in the morning at a secret location along the Dorset coast (near Weymouth, but I will send you all the details on a pdf file when you book). We will have an essential forager's nip and a brief talk followed by an hour or so looking at the amazing, edible seashore plants. This is followed by a bit of shrimping, then a search for cockles and razor clams. Then lunch, consisting of bread, cheese (really good local cheese mostly), cake and ale. We then drive to another, nearby location where we can search for seaweeds, wade and swim out to retrieve my crab pots (an optional activity!) and then set up our high tea on the beach.
I do hope you will be able to join me!
Please note that this is a dog-free day. My apologies for this, but forays are very difficult to run with dogs present, no matter how well behaved they are.
The seashore can be a dangerous place. There are slippery, seaweedy rocks and the opportunity to simply fall in the water. While every precaution is made to keep you safe, in booking this foray you agree that you will not hold me responsible for any injury or loss incurred during the foray and that you notify all participants that they shall not hold me responsible for any loss or injury incurred during the foray.
Cancellation: If cancelled by myself for any reason, a full refund will be provided. No compensation can be provided for any loss incurred due to such things as pre-booked accomodation or transport. Cancellation by the purchaser up to four weeks prior to the date of the foray will receive a full refund less £5 per person costs. Cancellation after four weeks prior to the date of the foray will not qualify for a refund.
